Tallon Griekspoor won his first ATP Tour title of the year on Sunday, beating Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) to win the European Open ATP 250 tournament in Brussels, Belgium.

The former double partners set up a showpiece meeting in Brussels after Griekspoor beat third seed Cerundolo, also downing second seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals, and Struff upset top seed Arthur Fils in the semifinals.

Struff earned the first break points after Griekspoor missed a net point, and after conceding an ace on his first break point, Struff converted on his second break point to take a 3-2 lead. Up 4-2, the German earned three more break points but conceded five consecutive points to a quickly recovering Griekspoor, who took the game to stay alive in the opening set.

Griekspoor put up a fight but ultimately conceded the opening set to Struff in frustration, smashing his racket on the Belgian hardcourt after missing another net point.

Struff stayed in control but faced three break points late in the set, with Griekspoor going up a gear and breaking the German veteran on love to earn a chance to serve for the set. Two set points in the following game were enough for the Dutchman to come back from a set down for the third consecutive match and force a third set in Brussels.

The Dutchman found the weakness in Struff, who struggled in the later stages of the third set. Griekspoor earned three crucial break points and redeemed his second to give him another chance to serve for the title. The strong-serving Griekspoor, who notched 19 aces against Struff, claimed three match points and clinched the championship on his first one.

Griekspoor, who hadn't won a title since Mallorca in 2025, broke a negative run in 2026. The Dutchman won two consecutive games just once since May and had lost five of his six games prior to the European Open in Brussels.
