German columnist Daniel Duhr from media outlet Handball-World boldly predicts that in a 100 days the German national team will win the handball world championships and thereby prevent reigning champions Denmark from recording their fifth successive title.

Duhr gives five reasons why the Germans will make the most of their home court advantage to prevent the Danes from adding another trophy to their long list of championship titles.

1) Juri Knorr, Renars Uscins, Marko Grgic, David Späth, and their teammates are no longer just promising talents; they have become top-tier international players and can handle the pressure of playing in big matches.

2) Twice they have reached the final (Olympic Games 2024 and European Championships 2026), and twice they lost to Denmark. "The Danes, of course, remain the benchmark. But Germany has proven that it can reach the global elite."

3) To become world champions, a team needs—at the very latest by the knockout stages—a goalkeeper who can transcend his own limits. Germany has two of them in Andreas Wolff and David Späth.

4) The conditions for a new wave of handball fever are in place, and the German team has what it takes to ignite it, as they have the luxury of playing their matches in front of a passionate home crowd.

5) A World Championship gold medal on home soil would be the perfect cherry on top of an already extraordinary coaching career for coach Alfred Gislason.

Duhr further writes that "Denmark has Mathias Gidsel and a roster so stacked that you could practically hand them the gold medal the moment you see the team sheet. But Germany has quality, experience. and the hunger that comes from winning silver twice."

Whether Duhr's prophecy comes true will be revealed when the World Championships take place in Germany from 13-31 January 2027.
