11:20 CET - Poland's Hubert Hurkacz has battled to victory after losing the first set to Zizou Bergs, claiming a hard-fought 6-7 (6), 7-6 (6), 6-3, 6-3 win.
11:09 CET - Despite dropping a set and now always looking at his sharpest, Taylor Fritz showed his quality to prevail against Valentin Royer, with the ninth seed winning 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.
Meanwhile, after winning the title in Adelaide last week, Tomas Machac has begun his Australian Open campaign with a really good 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Grigor Dimitrov.
10:42 CET - The in-form Belinda Bencic didn't have too many issues against Great Britain's Katie Boulter, winning 6-0, 7-5 in an hour and a half to move into the second round. A potential dark horse to go deep in the tournament?
10:29 CET - Defending champion Jannik Sinner has begun his title defence in straightforward fashion, with his opponent, Hugo Gaston, unfortunately retiring injured with the Italian leading 6-2, 6-1. A comfortable start for the world number two.
09:28 CET - In her final season on tour, Sorana Cirstea produced a superb performance to defeat Eva Lys, with the 35-year-old winning from a set down, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to move through.
Disappointment for Lys, who reached the fourth round last year as a lucky loser.
09:02 CET - Incredible scenes in Melbourne, as Australian qualifier Dane Sweeny has won his first-ever main draw match at a Grand Slam, defeating 39-year-old Gael Monfils 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-4, 7-5 in a little under four hours.
An emotional presentation was given at the end for Monfils, who played in his last Australian Open match after announcing that 2026 would be his final year on tour. One of the sport's great entertainers.
08:39 CET - Jelena Ostapenko is into the second round at the Australian Open, claiming a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Rebecca Sramkova in an hour and 20 minutes.
07:50 CET - Good morning and welcome back to the Tennis Tracker, as the final first-round matches wrap up today at the Australian Open!
Before we look ahead, let's wrap up some of the winners overnight. Defending champion Madison Keys got her defence up and running, but not before battling from 4-0 down in the first set and saving two set points in the process.
Elena Rybakina, Anna Kalinskaya and Karolina Pliskova all claimed wins, while home favourite Maya Joint and Leylah Fernandez were dumped out.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Musetti and Ben Shelton progressed, and Jakub Mensik and Karen Khachanov came through thrilling five-setters to make it to the second round. However, no such luck for Joao Fonseca, who was stunned by Elliot Spizzirri.
Currently on court are Taylor Fritz, Gael Monfils, Hubert Hurkacz and Eva Lys.
Looking ahead, the night session in Melbourne begins in just over an hour. Two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner starts his campaign against Hugo Gaston on Rod Laver Arena, before another two-time champion, Naomi Osaka, faces Antonia Rusik.
On Margaret Court Arena, the in-form Belinda Bencic comes up against Britain's Katie Boulter, which is then followed by Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Shintaro Mochizuki.
