Tallon Griekspoor was handed a favourable draw for the upcoming Shanghai Masters, with the former Dutch No. 1 set to face a qualifier in the first round.

Griekspoor is coming off the back of a disappointing start to the Asian swing, with Denis Shapovalov and Andrey Rublev eliminating the Dutchman in the first round of the Chengdu Open and the China Open.

Notable qualifiers battling it out to reach the ATP 1000 Masters tournament's main draw include Lorenzo Sonego, Roman Safiullin, Mattia Bellucci, Hugo Gaston, Terrance Atmane, and Kyrian Jacquet.

Griekspoor was drawn into the third quarter of the Shanghai Masters bracket. With a win over the qualifier, eighth seed Arthur Fils awaits in the second round, while Botic van de Zandschulp and Alex Michelsen are potential third-round opponents.

Botic van de Zandschulp, the current Dutch No. 1, faced a tricky draw by being paired with Spaniard Daniel Merida. The 22-year-old Merida broke through in 2026, starting the year ranked 163rd and currently ranked 44th after winning the Croatia Open in Umag and reaching the quarterfinals of the National Bank Open in Toronto.

Beating Merida sets up a second-round meeting with American 31st seed Alex Michelsen.

The Shanghai Masters' main draw starts on Wednesday, October 7th.
