Tallon Griekspoor was drawn against Matteo Arnaldi in Thursday's draw of the first round of the upcoming French Open.

Griekspoor, ranked 31st in the ATP Rankings, has been struggling since withdrawing from the Dubai final in February with a hamstring injury. The highest-ranked Dutchman has won just three of his 10 games since, with two of those wins coming at the Bordeaux challenger this month.

Griekspoor collected just one win from the Masters tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome, beating Damir Dzumhur in the Spanish capital in April.

In Matteo Arnaldi, Griekspoor has drawn an opponent he's never faced before. The 96th-ranked Italian has reached the second round of a Grand Slam just twice since reaching the fourth round of the 2024 French Open, but recently won the Cagliari challenger after beating Hubert Hurkacz in the final on May 3rd.

With a win over Arnaldi, Griekspoor would meet the winner of the match between Alexandre Muller and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Other seeded players on Griekspoor's side of the bracket are Alexander Bublik (ATP-9) and Frances Tiafoe (ATP-19), while Jannik Sinner could be a potential opponent in the quarterfinals.

Van de Zandschulp against Cerundolo

Botic van de Zandschulp will face 27th-ranked Francisco Cerundolo in the first round of the French Open. The pair have met three times before, with their latest match in Munich going Cerundolo's way in just over an hour.

Van de Zandschulp has not reached the third round of the French Open since 2022, with the 53rd-ranked Dutchman losing in the first round in each of the last three editions. Cerundolo, meanwhile, fell to Gabriel Diallo in the first round of last year's French Open, but reached the fourth round in 2024 and 2023.

With a win, Van de Zandschulp will face a wild card in the second round, with the winner of the match between home heroes Hugo Gaston and Gael Monfils. Daniil Medvedev is the projected third-round matchup, while Felix Auger-Aliassime, Brandon Nakashima, Cameron Norrie, Valentin Vacherot, Flavio Cobolli, and Learner Tien are the other seeded players in Van de Zandschulp's section of the bracket.
