Originally known primarily as the Virtus Arena (or Virtus Segafredo Arena) while serving as the home court for the Virtus Bologna basketball team, it will undergo a state-of-the-art transformation into a dedicated tennis pavilion for elite events.
Tournament Format:
Eight nations compete in a knockout bracket consisting of quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final. Each tie features three matches (rubbers)—two singles followed by one deciding doubles match, all played as best-of-three tiebreak sets.

History:
The Davis Cup was founded in 1900 as an international team tennis challenge between the United States and Great Britain. Four members of the Harvard University tennis team conceived the idea of a international team match. One of them, Dwight F. Davis, designed the tournament format and bought the silver trophy with his own money.
In 2019, the traditional year-long home-and-away format for the final stages was revamped into a centralized, multi-day World Group Finals event held in single host cities (such as Madrid, Malaga, and later Italy)
