On Friday night Randers beat Danish champions FC Midtjylland 2-1 at home in the Superliga to celebrate their first league win over Thomas Thomasberg's men in more than 12 years.
Previously, Midtjylland had been unbeaten in 33 consecutive games in the Danish domestic league against Randers, including a playoff match for a European ticket.
Dutch defender and Randers captain, Wessel Dammers, was the man to watch Friday night as he twice headed the ball in the net from corner kicks against a passive Midtjylland rearguard.

On both occasions, the Midtjylland defense lacked organisation at the back and after two successive defeats (FC Midtjylland lost 2-0 against Brondby at home last week) Thomas Thomasberg's men have now left the door open for FC Copenhagen to close the gap on the Danish champions even further.
FC Midtjylland still lead the Superliga with one point ahead of FC Copenhagen, but Jacob Neestup's men will take over the top spot if they get just a draw against FC Nordsjaelland during the weekend.
Thanks to the win, Randers climbed into fourth place, one point ahead of AGF and seven points ahead of FCM.
