After kicking off the season last week, four-time defending champions Galatasaray were given the honour of being first up again on Friday, with a trip to newly promoted side Erzurumspor. Following a 2-2 draw against Corum in their opening game, it was imperative they bounced back and got a win on the board.
And they did just that in very comfortable style, swatting away a pretty dismal Erzurum 4-0. Victor Osimhen followed up his two goals last week with another brace, while Roland Sallai and Yunus Akgun also got on the scoresheet.
Galatasaray signed Lokomotiv Moscow's 21-year-old playmaker Aleksey Batrakov last week, and they are going to be very active during the remainder of the transfer window as they look to strengthen a team and squad that is looking a bit stale.
However, they comfortably have the league's best player in Osimhen, and as long as he stays fit and healthy, he can single-handedly drag them through games.
Salah and Greenwood power wins
Speaking of best players in the Super Lig, Mohamed Salah opened his goalscoring account for Trabzonspor with a brace of his own in a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday.
'The Egyptian King' was in absolutely scintillating form, with his second strike a trademark Salah goal, sidefooting with aplomb into the far corner.
He looks to be up and running now in Trabzon colours, and after recent results, this was certainly a welcome win.
They are coming off the back of a really poor 1-0 home loss to Ferencvaros in their Europa League qualifying play-off first leg, and they will need him at his best once more if they want to overturn the deficit in Hungary.
Trabzon have also signed Salah's former teammate Fabinho to add some more strength to their midfield. I am a little surprised by the signing, as they are really veering away from their usual transfer policy. Additionally, the Brazilian is miles off the player he once was, and his legs are gone.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce rebounded from a shock opening game defeat to Genclerbirligi with a comfortable 4-2 victory over Konyaspor. Record signing Mason Greenwood was excellent with two goals and an assist, following up his first goal for the club against Lyon in their Champions League qualifying play-off first leg.
Defensively, this team still looks slow and sluggish, and they lack athleticism. They will continue to leak goals with the current crop of players. But like Osimhen and Salah, Fenerbahce have one of the league's best in Greenwood.
A very interesting talking point revolves around Marco Asensio and Anderson Talisca...
Asensio was their best player last season, but new manager Ismail Kartal hasn't been a big fan, prioritising Talisca, who scored in Fenerbahce's first five games of the season.
However, Talisca was bizarrely left out of the squad for the game against Konya, with reports claiming President Aziz Yildirim told the manager to start making Asensio the main man and not Talisca.
After the signing of Romelu Lukaku, there is now no way for both Asensio and Talisca to get into the team, and it looks like the club have made their choice with Asensio.
Besiktas finally concede under Italiano
Finally, Besiktas suffered their first loss in seven games this season, also conceding for the very first time as they fell to a shock 1-0 defeat at Alanyaspor.
They conceded their goal from a set piece, and despite being defensively sound this campaign, they continue to struggle in the attacking third of the pitch.
Vincenzo Italiano has clearly made them a well-coached outfit, but they need to get things going in offence. Leandro Trossard has struggled so far, while Dusan Vlahovic has yet to start a game as he aims to regain full fitness. Once the pair return to their best, they should add significantly more.
They are also set to sign Bayern Leverkusen winger Ernest Poku, and are in talks to sign Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti, so it is clear they are aware of their deficiencies.
They head to Lithuania to face Kauno Zalgiris in the second leg of their Europa League play-off game, but are in cruise control after winning the first game 3-0.
