Streamed live on YouTube and the Finnish FA website, the mammoth draw involved 361 of the 417 teams participating in the Suomen Cup, all from the lower leagues of Finnish football.
The teams were split into 10 regions for the draw which organised fixtures for Round 0 and Round 1. Participating teams stretch the length of the country, from the Aland Islands to Lapland.
There were four hours and 20 minutes between the first balls being drawn and draw procedure the final matches being determined. Which by Suomen Cup standards is typical - last season's draw took around the same time to complete.
And it all happened without the awarding of peace prizes, musical interludes, or jokes from former footballers landing like lead balloons. And yes, you can watch it in its entirety.
Teams from the top four tiers of Finnish football, including the Veikkausliiga, enter the competition in Round 3, with the exception of the four teams participating in European competition in the summer, who will join in Round 5.
Among the teams who discovered their first opponents were FC Santa Claus 2 who will face their first team, FC Santa Claus, in Round 1 should they have the strength to overpower Hercules, while Flamingo United will hope not to be bitten by RPS Lions in Round 0.
Pöxyt (Pants) will be away to FC Kiffen/3 in the opening round, while the more flattering SexyPöxyt will be at home to VJS/Akatemia in Round 1.
The reigning Suomen Cup holders are HJK, after Teemu Pukki scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win over KuPS in the final in September. The opening round is scheduled to begin on 6th February 2026.
