Napoli made it three wins out of six games in Serie A after two first-half goals helped the Partenopei to a 3-0 win against Frosinone, making it seven games unbeaten in head-to-head meetings in the Italian top-flight (W6, D1).

Napoli have struggled under the helm of Massimiliano Allegri with just two wins from their five league games this season, and the Italian head coach will have wanted an improved performance here against a Frosinone side who have never beaten the Partenopei in a league match.

The hosts got off to a fast start here, as Noa Lang dragged a shot wide when unmarked in the box, before Rasmus Hojlund was denied by the woodwork after his clipped effort cannoned off the right post after the Danish international was picked out in the box by Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

The visitors struggled to make an impact on the contest with Anthony Oyono fired wide from distance as they failed to register a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.

Napoli were presented with an opportunity to break the deadlock in the 26th minute when Hojlund was pushed over in the box by Giorgio Cittadini. The Dane stepped up and his poor spot kick was saved by Lorenzo Palmisani.

Their disappointment was short-lived, however, as the penalty was called back for encroachment, and Kevin De Bruyne made no mistake as he rolled into the bottom-right corner.

The lead was doubled minutes later when Lang rolled into an empty net after Di Lorenzo’s effort was smothered by Palmisani, but the goal was left gaping for the Dutchman to pounce and fire home.

Napoli picked up where they left off in the second half and came close to putting the game out of sight when Lang played David Neres in, but the Brazilian failed to hit the target, as his shot brushed the side netting.

Frosinone’s struggles continued in the second half as Antonio Raimondo headed over the bar from a few yards out, summing up the evening for the Canarini.

De Bruyne netted a third in stoppage time, wrapping up a victory for Napoli to move them level with tonight’s opponents with 10 points leaving both sides sat midtable, while Allegri will hope three unbeaten games will make for stability.
