Juventus picked up a 14th win from their last 16 season-opening games in Serie A when they beat Frosinone 1-0, with defeat for them maintaining their 100% losing record on matchday one in the top flight.

Frosinone could scarcely have picked a tougher fixture on their return to Serie A, and the early stages were certainly in keeping with the difficulty of this fixture.

An early warning sign came and went for the hosts when Gleison Bremer headed narrowly wide of the post, but the hosts showed no signs of heeding that warning as Bremer was again involved in the next big chance, when his flick on found an unmarked Randal Kolo Muani at the far post only for the Frenchman to wildly volley over.

Juventus didn’t have to wait too much longer to break the deadlock though, as Bremer was involved once more, this time nipping in front of Frosinone goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani to head home Francisco Conceicao's teasing delivery.

It took the newly-promoted side until 40 minutes to truly threaten the Juve goal, finally forcing debutant Guglielmo Vicario into action when Gabriele Bracaglia stung his palms from distance before Giorgi Kvernadze hammered the rebound into the side netting.

The Bianconeri kept up their assault on the Frosinone goal after the break, coming within inches of doubling their advantage when Conceicao stepped inside and whistled an effort inches over the bar.

Juve’s Portuguese winger was proving to be a thorn in the side of the hosts, but for all his time on the ball in the final third, adding the final touches was proving problematic, as he found out once more midway through the second half when he powered left-footed effort wide from the edge of the area.

Chances continued to come and go for Juventus, leaving them with a precarious-looking one-goal lead going into the closing stages.

Although the door remained open for Frosinone to grab a late leveller, they were unable to barge through it, despite Gabriele Calvani crashing a header against the crossbar in stoppage time and they succumbed to a fourth successive matchday one defeat in Serie A.

Juventus’ season got off to the perfect start, and they’d have expected nothing less having now avoided defeat in 20 of their last 21 top-flight games against promoted opposition.
