The 2024/25 Premier League campaign drew to a close over the weekend after 38 rounds of fixtures, which means it's time to look at the best performers over the last year in our Team of the Season.

Liverpool lifted the trophy following a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on the final day while Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea made up the rest of the top four.

Newcastle also secured a Champions League spot after finishing fifth, just ahead of Aston Villa in sixth and Nottingham Forest in seventh.

At the other end of the table, Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton were relegated back to the Championship.

Here, Flashscore takes a look at who achieved the best average player ratings across the campaign in our Premier League Team of the Season.

A little caveat: this side is purely based on our ratings system and players must have played a minimum of 25 games to be selected. We're also not playing to a set formation, just fitting in the highest-rated players!

GK - Mark Flekken, 7.0 (Brentford)

Perhaps a surprise inclusion between the sticks, Brentford's Mark Flekken earned the highest average rating out of any goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

The Dutchman played a key role for the Bees throughout the campaign and was involved in seven on the club's eight clean sheets.

Flekken also made a staggering 153 saves across the season, almost 30 more than the second-most Aaron Ramsdale (125).

HM (honourable mention): Matz Sels (6.7), David Raya (6.7), Jordan Pickford (6.8)

DEF - Trent Alexander-Arnold, 7.4 (Liverpool)

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has faced a bit of adversity at the back end of the season after confirming he will leave the club in the summer, but that shouldn't take away from a stellar campaign for the right-back.

Alexander-Arnold was a key component of the Reds' title-winning side and provided his usual attacking threat while also developing defensively as a player.

The Englishman registered three goals and six assists as Liverpool won their second Premier League title in six seasons.

HM: Pedro Porro (7.1), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (7.0), Jurrien Timber (7.0)

DEF - Virgil van Dijk, 7.3 (Liverpool)

Another star performer for Liverpool was Virgil van Dijk, who once again stood out as the champions' best defender.

The 33-year-old kept the most clean sheets of any individual in the division with 14 and continued to prove he can still perform at the top level as his age increases.

The Dutchman signed a contract extension during the campaign, meaning he will continue as an integral part of Liverpool's new era under Arne Slot.

HM: James Tarkowski (7.2), Dean Huijsen (7.2), Gabriel (7.1)

DEF - Josko Gvardiol, 7.2 (Manchester City)

Despite a rough middle part of the campaign, Manchester City ended up finishing third in the Premier League with Josko Gvardiol going under the radar as one of their best performers.

The defender was almost ever-present in the City defence and helped to keep 11 clean sheets while also contributing at the other end of the pitch with five goals.

A summer of change beckons for the Cityzens, but Gvardiol will no doubt be one of the must-keep players in the squad.

HM: Antonee Robinson (7.2), Pervis Estupinan (7.0), Lucas Digne (7.0)

MID - Bukayo Saka, 7.4 (Arsenal)

Arsenal had to settle for another second-place finish in the Premier League but still had a couple of standout performers throughout the campaign.

One of those was Bukayo Saka, who particularly enjoyed a successful first half of the season before getting injured.

He took a little while to get back up to speed following his return but still ended the year with six goals and 10 assists in the league.

HM: Savinho (7.2), Jarrod Bowen (7.1), Dango Ouattara (7.1)

MID - Alexis Mac Allister, 7.3 (Liverpool)

The third Liverpool player to make our side, Alexis Mac Allister took his game to another level under Slot and was one of the Premier League's best midfielders across the campaign.

While not relied upon for his attacking contributions, the Argentine still netted five goals and registered five assists while featuring 35 times for the champions - only missing out once due to suspension and being rested for the final two league games.

His role in the middle of the pitch often goes under the radar but Mac Allister excelled throughout the season and played a pivotal role in Liverpool securing another title.

HM: Bruno Fernandes (7.3), Elliot Anderson (7.2), James Maddison (7.2)

MID - Declan Rice, 7.3 (Arsenal)

Declan Rice was one of the Gunners' standout performers throughout the season, with a big contribution both in attack and defence.

The midfielder provided four goals and seven assists while often being Arsenal's main source of creativity with his excellent set-pieces and solid chance creation.

In a side often ravaged by injuries, Rice was a consistent performer regardless of the circumstances and averaged an impressive 7.3 Flashscore player rating.

HM: Eberechi Eze (7.3), Youri Tielemans (7.2), Morgan Gibbs-White (7.2)

MID - Cole Palmer, 7.4 (Chelsea)

Cole Palmer enjoyed a productive season with Chelsea, playing a starring role as the Blues finished fourth in the league.

The Englishman was once again Chelsea's best attacker and bagged an impressive 15 goals alongside eight assists.

Palmer suffered a dip in form during the middle of the season but recovered well towards the end of the campaign and still maintained a positive influence on the team even when his numbers in front of goal started to drop.

He just edges Manchester City's Jeremy Doku in our side due to his significantly higher goal contributions.

HM: Jeremy Doku (7.4), Alex Iwobi (7.1), Iliman Ndiaye (7.1)

FWD - Mohamed Salah, 7.6 (Liverpool)

Without a doubt, the Premier League's best performer over the last nine months was Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who is unsurprisingly our Player of the Season!

The Egyptian spearheaded Liverpool to a second Premier League title with an astonishing 29 goals and 18 assists - all while under a cloud of uncertainty surrounding his future.

That has all been put to bed now, though, with Salah signing a new contract that will see him continue as one of the Reds' key players under Slot.

HM: Amad Diallo (7.3), Antoine Semenyo (7.1), Noni Madueke (7.1)

FWD - Bryan Mbeumo, 7.3 (Brentford)

Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has perhaps gone under the radar over the last nine months, but the Cameroonian has scored a mammoth 20 goals for the Bees in the Premier League.

His partnership with Yoane Wissa caught the eye throughout the campaign, with the two forwards bagging the majority of their side's goals (39 out of 66).

Mbeumo is still only 25 and is quickly establishing himself as one of the division's best attackers, particularly outside the traditional 'big six'.

HM: Cody Gakpo (7.2), Alexander Isak (7.1), Erling Haaland (7.1)

FWD - Matheus Cunha, 7.4 (Wolves)

Rounding off our team is Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha, who excelled in a side that struggled for the majority of the campaign.

The Brazilian registered a superb 15 goals and six assists, producing a level of form that has seen him strongly linked with a move away this summer.

Cunha is one of several players further down the league to have a brilliant individual season and his performances have played a crucial role in keeping Wolves out of the relegation battle.

HM: Luis Diaz (7.3), Dwight McNeil (7.1), Justin Kluivert (7.1)
