Brentford-captain, Christian Norgaard, says in an interview with TV2 Sport that he wants to return to his former club Brondby IF in the summer of 2027.

The 31-year old Norgaard was last week rewarded with a two-year extension to his contract in the wake of a superb season where the Danish international has been one of Thomas Frank's key players.

But with the aftermath of his his career slowly approaching, Norgaard has already made plans for himself and the family when his Brentford-spell comes to an end.

"At that time (in the summer of 2027) I will be 33 years old, and hopefully my body is still in good shape. I am doing the things that are needed to extend my career and play at the highest possible level, so I can easily see myself coming home and making a difference and finishing at Brondby. That is my dream scenario, if it is a match at that time. But it also depends on Brondby", says Nørgaard, who bought a house in Rungsted, slose to Copenhagen, with his wife in 2024.

With his current contract running out this summer, Norgaard says he had plenty of offers from big clubs and took a long time contemplating if he should leave Brentford for the chance of playing Champions League football at another destination or stay in London where Norgaard along with partner Josefine Barsoe and their three boys are very happy with the current set-up.

"After I signed, I also had that feeling of: 'Oh, what could have happened, or are we missing out on that adventure?', says Norgaard and adds:

"If I had chosen a big club in Portugal, a top-5 club in Spain or a big club in Italy, it would have probably hurt even more because we would have to leave what we have here, and I would have to leave my role in the team."

"I will admit that it wasn't exactly me getting far outside my comfort zone by being in a new locker room, speaking a new language, having a different responsibility and getting a new coach. These are challenges that I don't mind at all, but I'm too happy right now to risk it all", says Norgaard in the interview.

Norgaard will be in action with Brentford again when they face Newcastle away on Wednesday.
