Jenni Hermoso, the victim of a "forced kiss" after Spain won the 2023 World Cup, is leaving her team Tigres Femenil, the Mexican club announced on Saturday.

The 36-year-old forward, who has played 125 times for Spain, joined Tigres in 2024, having spent 18 months with another Mexican club, Pachuca.

Prior to that, she played for Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

"I’m leaving Tigres very happy with everything I’ve experienced, but also sad, of course, because I don’t like saying goodbye, while knowing full well that this is the best thing that has ever happened to me in life," a tearful Hermoso said in a video posted on X.

Her departure comes three years after the Luis Rubiales affair, which deeply affected her career and Spanish football.

After Spain’s triumph at the 2023 World Cup, Rubiales, then president of the Spanish federation, kissed Hermoso on the mouth without her consent during the medal ceremony.

The incident sparked international controversy and led to Rubiales stepping down from his positions. In February 2025, a Madrid court found him guilty of sexual assault.
