France chose to launch their preparations on 11 June before the European Women's Championships which is set to start on 2 July and according to the Norwegian international, Ada Hegerberg, who was the first receive the Women's Ballon d'Or in 2018, the French team risk players get on each other's nerves before the start of the tournament.
"Some nations have a bit of 'overkill' in their preparations, like France, who started a couple of weeks ago. I think they will murder each other before the first match starts", says Hegerberg to nrk.no.
"If they think it's good to start early, then they should do it. We do what suits us best, and I think we've found a good balance in our camp," here, she says.
On Sunday, 22 June, the Norwegian national women's team assembled for their so-called precamp before the European Championship in Switzerland.
It is no coincidence that the Norwegians meet just ten days before their opening match against Switzerland on 2 July.
National team manager Gemma Grainger is very keen on keeping the recharging phase before the championships relatively short.
"The mental rest for players is so important. I recently spoke to a player who has been on vacation. But it is not a vacation. They are on vacation with partners and family, but they are training", she says.
The Norwegian national team manager wants to avoid "cabin fever" at all costs.
Therefore, before the complete squad was assembled on 22 June, she had had training sessions with around 13 of the players who felt the need to keep their bodies going, but Grainger allowed them to go their separate ways after the training sessions.
"They go home to their families. We think it is a balance that can help us. We feel it is optimal", she says.
Norway have been drawn in Group A at the EURO and will face Switzerland, Iceland and Finland in their group.
