Reigning champions PSV opened the season on a bad note when Edouard Michut fired Fortuna Sittard to a 2-2 draw in the last minute.

NEC Nijmegen - Telstar: 1-2
UEFA Champions League hopefuls NEC Nijmegen, who finished third in last year's Eredivisie, had a false start to the new campaign after losing 2-1 to last year's darlings Telstar.
Under the tutelage of new manager Henk Brugge, Telstar shook the Goffertstadion after just 27 seconds, when Patrick Brouwer opened the scoring from up close. Halfway through the first half, summer arrival Rui Mendes doubled the lead from a counter, curling the ball past Gonzalo Crettaz into the top corner.
Dusan Tadic delivered his first assist for NEC with just seven minutes to spare, setting up fellow newcomer Kaj Sierhuis for a crucial late goal. The hosts tried late on to force a difference, but it wasn't to be for NEC, who await a second meeting with Olympiacos in Nijmegen next Tuesday.
Go Ahead Eagles - Willem II: 4-1
In Deventer, Go Ahead Eagles opened their season with a resounding win over promoted Willem II, beating the Tilburg side 4-1.
Willem II struck first when Devin Haen, last year's club top scorer with 18 goals in the second tier, expertly tapped in a cross from Indonesian international Nathan Tjoe-A-On.
Danish midfielder Soren Tengstedt levelled the scoring for the Eagles after some superb dribbling from Melle Meulensteen, who handed the hosts the lead after 61 minutes. It was the start of a magical two minutes for Go Ahead Eagles, with Erik Flataker doubling the lead shortly after Meulensteen's 2-1.
A painful afternoon turned dramatic for Willem II when goalkeeper Thomas Didillon-Hodl was forced to come off with a seemingly severe hamstring injury. Just three minutes later, Julius Dirksen scored from a corner to further add to the visitors' sorrows and put the final scoreline on the board in Deventer.
AZ - ADO Den Haag: 2-0
In their first Eredivisie game since 2021, ADO Den Haag fell to Johan Cruyff Shield winners AZ, losing 2-0 thanks to a second-half flurry from the hosts.
After AZ's Elijah Dijkstra was denied a goal after a VAR check in the first half, ADO striker Evan Rottier was inches away from giving the The Hague club the lead shortly after half-time with a well-timed lob, but his effort hit Jari De Busser's post.
Ro-Zangelo Daal broke the deadlock after an hour, converting on a Troy Parrott cross. Less than 10 minutes later, Calvin Stengs, who returned after 5 years at Nice, Feyenoord, and Pisa, doubled the lead after brilliant teamwork from Daal and Kees Smit, giving ADO Den Haag food for thought after a disappointing return to the top tier.
