Ajax are reportedly lowering their demands to come to a compromise with Chelsea in negotiations for star defender Jorrel Hato.

According to De Telegraaf, Ajax have lowered their demands from €55-€60 million to considering a package worth €43-€45 million. Director Alex Kroes currently holds on to a minimum fee of €50 million, but is willing to accept less.

Ajax fear that no other club will offer at least €40 million for Hato in the later stages of the transfer market, and the club want to do right by Hato, who prefers a move to the Blues.

Meanwhile, Chelsea refuse to budge and move up from their offer of €41 million, which directly followed their opening bid of €40 million.

Hato and Chelsea reportedly reached a personal agreement last week. The left-footed defender agreed to sign an 8-year contract in London.

The 19-year-old Jorrel Hato is under contract at Ajax until 2028.
