The UEFA Conference League had 18 games on Thursday, as the penultimate matchday of the league phase took place. Two thirds of the knockout round places are now known at the end of the round. Here is a stat from each game of matchday 5.

6 - Djurgarden earned a pivotal 2-1 success in Iceland against Vikingur Reykjavik, with the Swedes earning a place in the knockout rounds. For the second group phase in a row, Djurgarden go unbeaten on their travels, making it six without loss. Their only away defeat in the Conference League proper came at Legia Warszawa in the last 16 almost two years ago.

9 - Chelsea have found their grove in the competition, beating Astana 3-1 away to remain perfect from five matches. But, the Blues are now on a nine-game winning streak in group play across UEFA club competitions. They managed to come out on top in their last four Champions League games in 2022/23.

8 - Petrocub lost once again, this time a 1-0 reverse against Real Betis. The struggles for the Moldovan champions continue, as they are eight European matches without a win, their last victory coming in the third qualifying round, as they topped The New Saints 1-0.

10 - Cercle Brugge have reached double digits in European wins as the Belgians topped Olimpija Ljubljana 4-1. It was also their third-ever away win in a European club competition. In what is their maiden group phase showing, they will enjoy knockout round football in February and/or March.

1 - FC Noah's last home game of the league phase ended in a 3-1 defeat to APOEL. In what was their eighth continental home game, they have finally suffered their first loss at home. In fact, it was just the second time the Armenians have conceded in a home continental tie.

11 - Lugano peppered the Legia Warszawa goal as the Swiss side ended their opponents' winning start to the competition in a 2-1 away success. The 11 shots Lugano had on target were the most they have had in a European match this season. Only Chelsea's 12 eclipsed them for this matchday.

4 - HJK came from two down to earn what could be a vital point in their 2-2 draw against Molde. An incredibly rare feat occurred in this match, all shots on target in this game ended up finding the back of the net. The number four is also significant as that is the number of points the pair have with a game to go.

17 - Fiorentina handed LASK their joint-heaviest defeat in UEFA club competition history with a 7-0 trouncing in Florence. For the first time in their three Conference League appearances, La Viola have won all of their group games at home. Even more impressively, they have scored 17 times in this fall, the most they have ever scored in a group phase.

3 - FC Kobenhavn earned a 2-0 victory over Hearts to all but ensure that they will be in next week Friday's draw for the knockout round playoffs. For the third game running, the Scots failed to find the back of the net.. The last time they were on such a run was 18 years ago.

0 - Dinamo Minsk got off rock bottom in the Conference League as they beat Larne 2-0 in Azerbaijan to give themselves hope of moving on. That leaves the Northern Irish champions as the only team to still be on zero points after five matches. They are also one of two clubs who know that matchday 6 will be their last continental game of the season.

2 - Istanbul Basaksehir have kept their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage alive after they defeated Heidenheim 3-1. It is their second win against German opposition across seven matches, having also beaten Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League group stage five years ago.

15 - After their 2-0 success away to The New Saints, Panathinaikos are virtually in the knockout rounds as they have reached seven points. The Greek side also won an away game in a UEFA club competition proper for the first time in 15 years, ending a run of 18 such games without a victory.

7 - Speaking of away results, Vitoria Guimaraes kept up their impressive showings on their travels with a 4-1 defeat of Sankt Gallen. The Portuguese side have now gone seven unbeaten on the road in Europe, their longest-ever run. The even better part? They have basically locked down a place in the last 16 of the competition.

5 - Shamrock Rovers continue their incredible journey in the Conference League this term with a 3-0 win over Borac Banja Luka at Tallaght Stadium. The Irish side are on their longest streak without a loss ever, and are one of just three teams not to have lost in this season's league phase.

50 - Paphos are also into the knockout rounds after beating Celje 2-0 for their fifth home win in their maiden European journey. The possession stats in this one were as even as it could be, with both sides enjoying 50% of the ball. The Slovenians, now winless in three, go into the final matchday a point and a place below the top 24.

22 - Omonoia Nicosia are on the cusp of successfully negotiating the league phase following their 3-1 victory over Rapid Wien. The Cypriot side have scored 22 times at home in Europe in their last eight games, stretching back to last season. That is nearly three goals a game.

19 - Mlada Boleslav have gone from being in serious danger of elimination, to grabbing back-to-back wins and setting themselves up for knockout round football. The Czech club recorded a 1-0 win over Jagiellonia Bialystok to claim their 19th European win all-time.

16 - Conference League ever-presents Gent defeated TSC Backa Topola 3-0 to ensure that for the fourth season in a row, they will be involved in the tournament's knockout phase. The Belgian side are also undefeated in their last 16 home games in the UECL, qualifying included.
