16 - Paris Saint-Germain kicked the round off with a 3-0 win over fellow French side Brest in Guingamp. Les Parisiens have thus managed to take a massive step towards a place in the last 16. Curiously enough, both teams amassed 16 attempts on goal in the 90 minutes. The difference were the shots on target- PSG had seven of them, in comparison to Brest's two.
10 - Borussia Dortmund were the only other side in the round to win by multiple goals, as they got the better of Sporting CP 3-0 in Portugal. In what was their fifth win in the competition this term, they could use that form in the league. However, Die Schwarzgelben grabbed their 10th win over Portuguese opposition in UEFA club competitions, and a fourth over Sporting across five matches.
35 - The round's most anticipated match did not disappoint, as Real Madrid came from behind twice to defeat Manchester City 3-2 at the Etihad. That result put an end to the Cityzens' 35-game unbeaten home record in the Champions League. Before Tuesday night's reverse, their last loss came in the 2018/19 group stage against Lyon. The 35-game run is the second-longest home unbeaten run in the competition, three off Barcelona's 38, something the Catalans accomplished between 2013 and 2020.
4 - Juventus earned a second win over PSV in the UCL this season, prevailing 2-1 in their home leg this time around. The Bianconeri are closing in on a place in the last 16 of the tournament for the first time since 2021/22. PSV's woes in knockout round ties on the road continue, as it was the fourth time in a row they failed to win. Their last away win at this point of a continental run came in the Conference League round of 16 back in 2021/22, a 4-0 beating of FC Copenhagen.
34 - Club Brugge left it quite late, but they managed to take a narrow first-leg lead with them. The 2-1 victory over Atalanta gives them a realistic shot at making it to the last 16 of the competition for the first time in 34 years. Speaking of which, that was the last time they won a match in a two-legged tie in the European Cup/Champions League, qualifiers excluded. A 2-0 second-leg win over Lillestrom saw them progress on that occasion.
3 - Benfica made the most of their man advantage throughout the second half, as they edged AS Monaco 1-0 in the principality. The two-time European Cup winners continue their domination over Les Monegasques, as it was their third victory in the head-to-head, and second one this season.
Three of Monaco's five losses to Portuguese sides have come at the hands of the Lisbon-based club.
2 - Feyenoord were once again efficient in their match against AC Milan. A very early goal from Igor Paixao was enough for the Eredivisie outfit to come out on top 1-0. That was the first of just two shots on target Feyenoord had across the entire 90 minutes as they were able to hold off their Serie A opponents. It was also a second victory for them over the Rossoneri across three meetings all-time.
14 - Bayern Munich are one step closer to returning to the round of 16 for the 17th season in a row. Despite conceding late on, they managed to hold on for a 2-1 success at Celtic. The Bavarians have now gone 14 games without a loss against Scottish opposition in Europe. Their last defeat to a team from Scotland came in the quarterfinals of the 1988/89 UEFA Cup at Hearts. They still won the tie in the end.
