In need of a pick-up after a winless week so far, Vincent Kompany would’ve welcomed Dayot Upamecano’s first-half opener. Netting the sort of goal Kompany himself was renowned for himself in his heyday, Upamecano stole a yard on his marker before nodding home Joshua Kimmich’s whipped corner.
Heidenheim did well to reduce Bayern’s chances before the break and were rewarded by going into the break just one goal down.
That provided the visitors with a platform to go and restore parity shortly after the restart, with Mathias Honsak capitalising on a mix-up at the back between Upamecano and Alphonso Davies to poke underneath the onrushing Daniel Peretz.
The respite didn’t last long for Heidenheim though, given Bayern reestablished their advantage six minutes after the Honsak leveller.
There was little surprise about the goalscorer either with Musiala, who was brought off the bench at the break, drilling a stunning right-footed strike from range past the helpless Kevin Müller.

A third goal for the home side looked as if it eventually put the game out of Heidenheim’s reach, with Leon Goretzka’s deflected shot wrong-footing Muller, but a grandstand finish was ensured when Niklas Dorsch swept home fellow substitute Leo Scienza’s cutback.
It proved too little too late though with the game was well and truly wrapped up when Musiala broke away to secure his brace and make sure the three points were remaining in Munich.
Their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table remains, with another title looking as if it’s Bavaria-bound this season.
