The LVZ emphasises that Fabregas' former teammate, Thierry Henry, maintains close contacts with RB supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff.
Fabregas, who was part of the Spanish national team from 2006 to 2016, played for Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Monaco, among others, during his career.
He is currently the coach of Serie A club Como 1907.
The list of candidates who could succeed Marco Rose and interim coach Zsolt Low is getting longer and longer.
Among the possible options are Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace), Roger Schmidt (unassociated), Danny Rohl (Sheffield Wednesday), Alexander Blessin (St. Pauli) and Matthias Jaissle, who is currently working in Saudi Arabia.
Low had already announced that he could not envisage a long-term commitment as head coach.
