A Youth director from Malmo FF accuses FC Copenhagen of extremely aggressive scouting of youth players, all the way down to eight-year-old players.

"They are quite aggressive. I think in principle that they watch every single youth game that we play through scouts."

"They have control over all 15-20 players in our age groups, probably from the start, from nine years old. They have also been to our football school, approached 8-year-olds to get them to join FC Copenhagen, and made them commute over the bridge to play football."

"It is quite aggressive, you could say, and in our eyes, that is perhaps not the point when you are eight years old. Then you should probably play football in your local club and have fun with your friends", says Per Aagren, according to Fotbollskanalen in the podcast Lundh.

Danish media "Politiken" launched a series of articles during the Spring this year describing how recruitment of very young players is done in Denmark today, during which FC Copenhagen was accused of extremely aggressive scouting.

This was later denied by Sports Director Sune Smith-Nielsen during a General Assembly.

"I can strongly deny that FC Copenhagen are poaching children under ten years of age. We do not look to recruit players from Sweden or anywhere else in Copenhagen at that age."

"I have been involved in football for many years, and this debate about child poaching in football has been going on for the past 35 years. I can also strongly deny all accusations of bribery in children's football", said Sune Smith-Nielsen back then.
