Nigeria will face Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, as the Super Eagles aim to continue their march toward the latter stages of the tournament.
The three-time African champions reached this stage with a perfect record in Group C, securing victories over Tunisia and Uganda to finish as group winners.
Mozambique, on the other hand, made history by qualifying for the knockout phase for the first time in their AFCON history, advancing as one of the best third-placed teams thanks to a crucial win over Gabon.
A place in the quarter-finals is at stake, with the loser exiting the tournament. While Nigeria enter as clear favourites, Chiquinho Conde’s men will be determined to cause an upset and halt the Super Eagles’ momentum.
Historically, this will be only the second meeting between the two nations at the Africa Cup of Nations. Their previous encounter came in the final group game of the 2010 tournament, where Nigeria secured a 3-0 victory, with Peter Odemwingie scoring twice and Obafemi Martins adding a third.
Mozambique have faced four West African teams multiple times in AFCON or related competitions and have struggled against them, losing seven of nine matches and drawing the other two.
Below, Flashscore provides all the essential information ahead of the clash, including broadcast details, potential line up, and more.
