Canberra Raiders pair Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies fronted up to the media outside Resorts World Las Vegas early on Tuesday morning (AEDT) to publicly apologise for the hotel indiscretion that threatened to throw the club's pre-season preparations into disarray.

Young and Smithies have both been named to take on the New Zealand Warriors this weekend (Sunday 11am AEDT) despite the fight, which was confirmed to have occurred in a hotel elevator on late Thursday night Las Vegas time after a night out.

The incident took place following a check-in mix-up at the hotel which left the pair to share a bed, prompting a disagreement between the two which then turned physical.

Police were not called to the scene, though the pair were initially asked to leave the hotel following a review of security footage by hotel staff.

Young, who answered most of the questions on their behalf during the brief press conference, told reporters that he was "embarrassed for myself, my teammates and the NRL... It's obviously not good enough to the club, the members, the sponsors and everyone who has travelled over here... things got a bit out of hand and I'm happy to move on and look forward to Saturday."

The 26-year-old assured the media that the Raiders' preparations for Round One have not been hampered by the off-field incident:

"We're so close as a team. Me and Morgan are really good mates and everyone in the team knows that. We're strong and we dealt with it many days ago and have moved on."

Smithies added: "In such an important week, me and Huddo have made a mistake which we have owned. (Ricky) was obviously disappointed with us but we have apologised and just want to put it to bed."

Young also confirmed reports that an inflatable toy baseball bat was taken back to the hotel and, whilst misidentified by hotel security as a weapon, it was not used in the elevator fight.

The club has not ruled out sanctioning the players for the incident when the team returns to Canberra next week.
