Lidl-Trek's Mads Pedersen underlined that he is a level above everybody else when he won the biggest stage of the Tour of Denmark from Svendborg to Vejle in superior fashion.

It gave Pedersen his second stage win of the race, and unless something totally unexpected happens on Saturday's flat final stage, he will also win the race overall convincingly.

Pedersen already grabbed the blue leader's jersey on stage 1, and since then, he hasn't let anyone close in on him and that was also the case on Friday's stage.

A breakaway of seven riders, including four Danes, set off early on the 227 kilometer stage from Svendborg to Vejle and build up a gap of four minutes and 30 seconds.

67 kilometers from the finish line, long before Vejle's hilly circuit with Kiddesvej, leader Mads Pedersen lost patience with the peloton.

The Lidl-Trek favorite broke away from the peloton and around 15 kilometers later were up at the front group where he dropped everyone exept Mads Würtz Schmidt.

The first of four trips up the infamous Kiddesvej was Würtz Schmidt's last in company of his namesake.

With a lead of just 30 seconds to the peloton, Mads Pedersen launched a solo ride, which tore the peloton into many small groups with the Danish national team riders leading the hunt for the leader's jersey at the front.

The 20-year-old Frenchman Antoine L'Hote made a brave attempt during the last ten kilometers to catch Pedersen.

But no one could catch the stage favorite who stomped his way towards a terrific win.
