PSG failed to beat Toulouse home or away in the league last season, but almost made a perfect start tonight. Ousmane Dembele’s seventh-minute corner was flicked by Lucas Beraldo onto the heel of Milan Skriniar, and his inadvertent touch sent the ball heading toward the bottom corner until it was clawed away by Guillaume Restes.
In response, Zakaria Aboukhlal and Joshua King were posing a threat for Les Violets, but they were not doing enough to test Matvei Safonov.
That would not be enough against Les Parisiens, who took a big step towards a sixth consecutive home league win 10 minutes before half-time. Achraf Hakimi cleverly picked out Joao Neves with his first-time cross, and from the edge of the box, the Portuguese caught the ball on the volley and steered it into the bottom corner.
With six of their seven away league goals coming after the break, Toulouse would have harboured ambitions of getting back into the game. However, they began the second half on the backfoot, with Hakimi and Vitinha testing their shooting range and Warren Zaire-Emery having a goal ruled out for offside in the build-up.
Zaire-Emery’s attacking contribution may not have counted, but his defensive one did with 20 minutes remaining. It was he who sprinted back and made a superb block on Aboukhlal’s shot after the Moroccan had been played through on goal.
That began Carles Martinez Novell’s side’s best period of the half, but Shavy Babicka and Charlie Cresswell both wasted great chances before Safonov made a double save to deny Frank Magri.

Finally, Luis Enrique’s team wrapped up the points with six minutes to go, as a poor clearance fell kindly to the unmarked Beraldo, who powered home his first of the season.
Toulouse’s win at the Parc des Princes in May remains PSG’s only league home loss since September 2023, missing the chance to record three successive away wins as Vitinha’s composed finish in stoppage time ensured they conceded three times in the capital.
