The Philadelphia Phillies acquired elite closing pitch Jhoan Duran from the Minnesota Twins in a trade on Wednesday.

In return, the Twins are receiving the Phillies' No. 4 and No. 6 prospects (C) Eduardo Tait and (P) Mick Abel.

Duran has 16 saves on 18 opportunities this season but has been a dominant reliever all-around, posting a 2.01 earned run average in 49 games. The 27-year-old has given up just 11 earned runs on 40 hits 49.1 innings while striking out 53 and walking 18.

Opponents are hitting .219 against Duran this season, a definite improvement for the reliever compared to last year (.235).

Duran is currently on a one-year deal and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. However, the Phillies are bolstering their bullpen in the hopes of making a World Series push.

Tait is slashing .255/.319/.434 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI in A-ball this season.

The 18-year-old from Panama recently got the call-up to High-A and is borderline hitting .300 in the seven games he's played, in comparison to his .251 average in 75 games in Single-A.

Meanwhile, Abel has been having a fantastic year in Triple-A, boasting a 7-2 record with a 2.31 ERA. The 23-year-old has given up 19 earned runs on 54 hits in 74 innings, striking out 81 while walking 32.

Opponents are hitting just .200 against Abel, a drastic improvement from the .279 they were hitting against him in 2024.
