NFL veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen signs one-year deal with Colts

Allen, 34, will be entering his 14th season as the Colts make it three teams in three years for the six-time Pro Bowler. He put up 777 yards and four touchdowns on 81 receptions last season for the Los Angeles Chargers. 

Allen spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Chargers after they selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was with the team for so long that he was the only remaining member of the San Diego team last season before they moved to Los Angeles. 

He surpassed Chargers legend Antonio Gates on the franchise's all-time receptions list and now holds the record with 985. 

After playing in just nine games between the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Allen went on to win Comeback Player of the Year in 2017 by posting 1393 yards and six touchdowns on 159 receptions. 

From then on, Allen hit a prime spot in his career. 

Between 2018 and 2023, Allen posted four 1,000-yard seasons and five seasons with at least six touchdowns. He joined the Chicago Bears for one year in 2024, where he still put up 744 yards and seven touchdowns before making his eventual return to the Chargers in 2025. 

Allen (12,051) has a chance to leap into the top 25 all-time in receiving yards this season if he puts up at least 700 and only 96 more to join the top 30. He also needs just two more touchdowns to crack the top 50. 

Now, he'll be joining an Indianapolis Colts team that had one of the hottest starts last season before the injury bug started to bite. With their star Alec Pierce still dealing with an injury, Allen gives the Colts a reliable weapon. 

They kick off the season on September 13th against the Baltimore Ravens.
