Miami Marlins rookie shortstop Maximo Acosta hit a home run for his first major-league hit on Wednesday with his family in attendance.

The Venezuela native's blast came during the bottom of the sixth inning off St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Andre Pallante.

Acosta made his MLB debut on August 19th and had gone 0-8 at the plate until his home run on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old has spent most of the season in Triple-A for Miami, slashing .232/.319/.376 with 12 home runs, 49 RBI, and 28 stolen bases.

Acosta was originally signed by the Texas Rangers as a minor league free agent in 2019, where he spent the next four years of his career. He was later traded to the Marlins in 2024 as part of the Jake Burger trade that sent him to the Rangers.

Acosta's 12 home runs in 106 games in Triple-A this season were a career-high. His 28 stolen bases were the second-most of his career in the minors, with the top being 44 during his time in Single -A (2022).
