Kenyan Premier League outfit Tusker FC have confirmed the acquisition of Nigerian striker Victor Mbaoma ahead of the new 2026/27 FKF Premier League campaign set to kick off in August.

The Ruaraka-based club confirmed the arrival of the 29-year-old star on a one-year deal from Remo Stars in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), where he was last season’s top scorer with 14 goals and four assists.

“He comes in with a rich pedigree and experience, becoming our first acquisition ahead of the 2026-27 season,” read a statement from the Brewers’ official website.

Mbaoma returning to East Africa

Mbaoma will be playing in East Africa for the second time, having been in Rwanda where he played for APR, also clinching the Golden Boot with a 15-goal haul.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Mbaoma said: “I am really delighted to be joining Tusker. The coach and the management presented the club’s project to me and I was attracted to it.

“I have also gone back to look at the history of the team and this is a winning side. The team has an ambition to not only do well locally but also in Continental football and that was a big attraction for me.”

Mbaoma further admitted his decision to join Tusker was boosted by the fact he had worked under current Tusker coach Julien Mette in Rwanda with Rayon Sports.

“We shared a home stadium with Rayon and the coach saw me frequently,” added Mbaoma.

“I am sure he saw a trait in me that will fit his team. I also know him well from my time in Rwanda. He is very passionate and wants his team to always win and I love the energy he puts into his work.

“He usually transmits this energy to his players.”

Mette explained his decision to sign the player: “I am glad to welcome Victor to the team as our first signing.

“He is an experienced player who I know very well and I am sure we will make great success together.”

Mbaoma started his professional career with Remo Stars in 2016, and has had a journey that took him to Akwa United and Enyimba locally, as well as MC Alger in Algeria and Qizilqum Zarafshon in Uzbekistan.

Fabian Adikiny named Tusker’s best

Fabian Adikiny was named Tusker’s Player of the Season after emerging as the club’s standout performer at the team’s End of Season Awards.

Adikiny led the honours list as Tusker marked the close of a season that culminated with FKF Cup glory and qualification for continental football.

Speaking after being crowned the MVP, Adikiny said the recognition was a reflection of the team’s collective effort throughout the campaign.

“I am truly honoured to be named Player of the Season. This award means a lot to me because it reflects the hard work, discipline, and support from my teammates, coaches, and the entire Tusker family,” he said.

“We went through a challenging season, but we stayed united, believed in each other and finished strongly. I want to thank everyone who has been part of my journey and promise to keep pushing for even greater success for this club.”

Striker Eric Kapaito scooped the club’s top-scorer award following his eight goals throughout the season as mid-season signing Pavelh Ndzila won the Golden Glove Award.

Ian Simiyu, who scored a brace to seal the domestic Cup in the final against Kenya Police FC at Kwale Stadium, was recognised as the Forward of the Season.
