New York Islanders rookie Matthew Schaefer recorded his first multi-point game of his career during Tuesday's game against the San Jose Sharks.

After recording a secondary assist on Bo Horvat's (5) goal to tie things up 1-1 for the Islanders, Schaefer (2) would go on to score a goal of his own to put the Isles up 4-2.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft now has two goals and five assists (seven points) through his first six games, becoming an instant fan favourite for Islanders fans.

Schaefer now has at least one assist in five of his six games.

At just 18 years old, Schaefer scored his first career goal back on October 11th during the team's 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals

The Islanders will move to 3-3-0 on the year if they finish with a win against the Sharks

Their next game will be against the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Red Wings on October 23rd.
