After their 5-0 defeat against USA, the Danes tried to seize the initiative in the opening stages of the match with a lot of enthusiasm but Patrick Fischer's team took control of the game relatively soon.
Chances were, however, few and far between until Nico Hischier put the Swiss ahead after 15 minutes following a nice assist from Christian Marti. There were fears that the Danes would followingly succumb to the Swiss pressure as they did against the Americans on Friday but instead the Danes turned the tide in the space of six minutes in the second period.
Oscar Fisker Molgaard (Coachella Valley) equalized after 22 minutes when Denmark were otherwise four against five, when he cooly rounded Switzerland's goalkeeper Stephane Charlin to put the puck in the net for Denmarks first goal of the tournament.
Denmark then took the lead six minutes later, when Joachim Blichfeld caught a loose puck, and despite heavy traffic in front of Switzerland's goalkeeper Stephane Charlin, directed the puck into the roof of the net with a stunning finish.
Denmark had chances for more but were, like against USA, punished for their individual errors, when they lost the puck in the offensive zone. Timo Meier threatened to take a shot but instead played the puck cleverly for Nico Hischier, who laid it into the path of Tyler Moy who scored easily with 35 minutes on the clock.
Bad then turned to worse for the hosts before the end of the second period, when Moy scored his second of the night, when the Danes lost the puck around blue line to leave Meier and Moy on a two-on-one situation with Jesper Jensen which Moy clinically finished off to regain the lead for the visitors.
The Danes started the third period in promising fashion but it was the Swiss who took a 4-2 lead, when a two-minute penalty for Anders Koch allowed the visitors to put the Danish goal under a virtual siege, and Damien Riat finally found the net after Dahl otherwise had produced a strong reflex save.
Hischier then compounded the misery for the Danes shortly before the end to make it 5-2.
