Denmark on Saturday night suffered their second defeat at the World Championship against last year's finalists from Switzerland despite amazing support from the home crowd. But despite the defeat, the home side felt part of Saturday's game made somewhat up for the lethargic performance which the Danes delivered in their 5-0 defeat against USA in their opening match.
"It was a step in the right direction and there are many things, we can carry with us into the next game (against the Czech Republic). We looked dangerous in the power play and looked like a team that could score. We were a lot more goal seeking in the zone than yesterday", said Poulsen who said that the game-plan worked for a long time against the favored Swiss outfit.
"We had the game where we wanted it. We succeeded in many of the things we wanted to. We had plenty of energy despite a tough fight yesterday. We would very much have liked to have gone into the break with a 2-1 lead, but then we conceded two goals, and it turned out to be a bit expensive for us."
"They would have panicked if we had led at the break and instead it became comfortable for them, even though I think we played some good hockey. It was a shame that we didn't manage to finish the game off today."
Even though Denmark's next opponent is the Czech Republic, Poulsen is confident that the Danes have got all the tools to frustrate the world champions.
"We also faced a strong opponent today, but we could match them with really good skating and managed to keep the game open for a long time. The Czech Republic is a big mouthful and we need to have an extraordinary day to match them. We have had amazing support here in Herning but now we also need to pay something back to the fans and we want to do that against the Czech Republic.
Denmark will face the Czech Republic on Monday night.
