Not even the mighty Frolunda could stop Skelleftea recording an eighth-straight Swedish Hockey League (SHL) victory in a row, as the challengers came from 3-1 down to win the battle of the top two 4-3 after overtime away from home.

Skelleftea were the better-rested of the two after Frolunda had booked a place in the Champions Hockey League final in midweek, but that didn't appear to be slowing them down early on, as they were 2-0 up inside 14 minutes.

Ivar Stenberg broke the deadlock after a little more than seven minutes, before Noah Hasa added a second. But any hopes that Skelleftea simply hadn't turned up were crushed a few seconds later, when Rickard Hugg pulled a goal back for the visitors.

A tight second period didn't produce a goal despite plenty of shots on target at either end, before Frolunda edged closer to victory when Arttu Ruotsalainen made it 3-1 in the sixth minute of the third period.

But with just under nine minutes remaining, Skelleftea closed the gap back to one through Jonathan Johnson, then, with 69 seconds left in the game, the two goalscorers Hugg and Johnson combined to set up Oscar Lindberg to level the match at 3-3.

In overtime, it was Lindberg who was the hero for the visitors once again, and he raced away and fired past Lars Johansson to complete the turnaround for Skelleftea and win it 4-3 in Gothenburg.

It's the end of a three-match SHL winning run for Frolunda, whose lead over their victors is down to eight points, but they still have a game in hand.

An Alexander Lundqvist goal late in the second and 30 Marcus Gidlof saves was enough for lowly Leksand to beat third-placed Rogle 1-0. It's a first win in four for the side who remain bottom of the table, while Rogle have now suffered four defeats in their last five.

Waiting to pounce a point behind in fourth are Vaxjo, who needed overtime to score the only goal of their match with Orebro and earn a third win in a row. Dylan McLaughlin scored it two minutes in, as Adam Ahman made 31 saves to keep out Orebro, who stay 12th following three straight losses.

Farjestad are back up to seventh after they won a second match running and ended Lulea's six-match winning streak in all competitions with a 3-2 win after penalties. Christoffer Jansson scored the winner in the shootout, but sixth-placed Lulea still sit sixth with a four-point advantage.

Leksand could only close the gap at the bottom by a point as Jonathan Ang's overtime winner for HV 71 gave them a 5-4 victory over Linkoping, who came from 3-0 down. It's two wins in three for HV, who are three points shy of Orebro, as Linkoping remain two points outside the Playoff places.

That is because Djurgarden picked up a point in their 3-2 overtime loss at Brynas, for whom Johan Larsson scored the deciding goal to secure a third win in four, all of which were secured after regulation. The win takes Brynas into ninth, above Djurgarden, who have lost three in a row.
