The Winnipeg Jets signed defenceman Neal Pionk to a six-year contract extension worth $42 million ($7 million AAV) on Thursday, just ahead of the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Pionk posted 10 goals and 29 assists (69 games) for the Jets this year.

The 29-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent come July 1st but will now remain with the current Presidents Trophy winners through the 2031 season.

Winnipeg originally acquired Pionk from the New York Rangers when he was still on his rookie deal.

Now, the eight-year veteran couldn't be more stoked about staying where he feels at home.

"Best atmosphere in hockey," said Pionk describing Jets fans. "I always tell my friends, I played in a lot of places, played internationally, played in some gold medal games, whatever, state championships, and this is the best. Best it gets is the Whiteout."

Now, Pionk has the chance of his career to win a Stanley Cup with the league's best as the top-seeded Winnipeg start their run for the Stanley Cup on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues
