Vancouver Canucks star defenceman Quinn Hughes is now considered day-to-day after "tweaking something" during the team's 6-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.

The veteran sat out the remaining nine minutes and five seconds of the third quarter - sparking interest in what happened.

But head coach Rick Tocchet doesn't seem overly worried.

"He tweaked something else, and it was a more of a kind of cautionary, so kind of a maintenance day," said Tocchet. "We'll see how he is tomorrow and go from there."

Hughes has 14 goals and 46 assists in 50 games for Vancouver this year with his 60 points being third among all defencemen as the former Norris Trophy (best defenceman) winner aims to reclaim his throne.

Hughes also missed time ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off with an injury that caused him to miss the tournament for Team USA.

"We'll see if he gets on the ice Tuesday," said Tocchet.

Vancouver is set to practice on Tuesday before they go up against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.
