The Philadelphia Flyers made the first big splash of the NHL offseason after acquiring centre Trevor Zegras in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks on Monday.

In exchange for Zegras, the Ducks received centre Ryan Poehling, the No. 45 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

The Flyers will be entering next season with one of the league's better young talents.

Zegras finished the 2024-2025 season with 12 goals and 20 assists in 57 games with a -8 +/-.

The 24-year-old out of Bedford, New York, spent all five seasons of his career with an Anaheim Ducks team that failed to make the playoffs each of those years.

The former ninth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft will be joining Flyers rookie sensation and right wing Matvei Michkov, who posted 26 goals and 37 assists during his first campaign.

Anaheim finished the season with a 35-37-10 record while Philly finished 33-39-10, which was tied with the Boston Bruins for the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
