The New Jersey Devils reclaimed the Metropolitan division throne after an impactful win over the Rangers while the Stars earned their first victory without star player Tyler Seguin.

The New Jersey Devils beat their rival New York Rangers 5-1, improving to 17-9-2 and reclaiming first place in both the Metro division and the Eastern Conference. The Devils were led by a pair of goals from Jack Hughes (11), Jesper Bratt's three assists, and goaltender Jacob Markstrom's 38 saves.

The Rangers now fall to 13-10-1 on the season and are now 4-6 in their last 10 games. Chris Kreider (10) scored the Rangers' lone goal when the team went on a power play in the second period.

Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks

The Toronto Maple Leafs hold their first-place position in the Atlantic division after a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Toronto improves to 15-7-2 on the season while Chicago falls to the NHL's worst record at 8-15-2.

Auston Matthews (6), John Tavares (11), Fraser Minten (2), and Matthew Knies (10) all scored for the Maple Leafs while Lukas Reichel (3) scored the lone goal for the Blackhawks at the start of the third period.

Utah Hockey Club vs. Stars

The Dallas Stars won their first game after losing star Tyler Seguin to injured reserve with a 2-1 victory over the Utah Hockey Club. Dallas improves to 16-8-0 on the year while Utah falls to 10-11-4.

Evgenii Dadonov (7) got the Stars started in the second period with a power play goal that was eventually followed by another scored by teammate Jamie Benn (6). Nick Schmaltz's (3) lone goal and goaltender Casey DeSmith's 34 saves weren't enough to surmount a comeback.
