Following the ceremony, the Caps and Hurricanes put on a show of comebacks.
After going down 2-0, the Caps scored four straight goals to take the lead heading into the third period, where the Canes tied it up 4-4 with goals from Jordan Martinook (14) and Seth Jarvis (31)
After both teams failed to score in overtime, it was Washington's Pierre-Luc Dubois who scored the only goal during the shootout to give the Caps a 5-4 win.
Washington clinched the Eastern Conference as the best team with just four games left.
Rangers 9-2 Islanders
The New York Rangers didn't hold back against their city rivals despite the Islanders putting up a whopping 46 shots to their 32.
Brett Berard (6) and Artemi Panarin (37) both had a pair of goals for the Rangers while goaltender Igor Shesterkin's 44 saves was the second most this season for him, 49 against the Calgary Flames on November 24th.
The win broke up the Rangers' three-game losing streak with just three games left in their season.
Panthers 4-1 Red Wings
Brad Marchand scored his first goal for the Panthers since being acquired at the trade deadline.
The win sets the Panthers at just four points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for the top of the Atlantic Division.
Meanwhile, as the window on the Detroit Red Wings is all but shut, the team will be getting ready for the offseason soon.
