Denmark maintained their perfect record in the Handball World Cup tournament by putting Brazil to the sword in a very one-sided quarterfinal which the Danes won comfortably 33-21 on Wednesday night. It was Denmarks 35th successive game without defeat in the Handball World Cup.

Despite not enjoying the same support in Oslo as in the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena, the Danes quickly established a seven-goal lead (10-3) with right wing Emil Jakobsen scoring five goals in the first 19 minutes and dominating both via fast breaks and via penalties converted.

However, Brazil managed to keep Mathias Gidsel at bay as he did not score a single goal until the 22nd minute, as he was happy only to dish out four assists on Denmark’s way to a comfortable lead.

The South American side, which had delivered serious shocks on their way to their maiden quarter-final in history, dug deep and refused to surrender straight away as they cut the deficit to 15-12 at half-time.

However, with Rangel Da Rosa failing to provide the much-needed spark which he did so many times so far, things were to get much worse  for Brazil after the break as Emil Nielsen saved 15 shots to record another absolutely fantastic 43% saving efficiency.

Brazil could only lament their left back, Bryan Monte da Silva, not being at 100%, but it wouldn't have mattered any way against a Danish side well-rested, motivated and ready to write another page of history by potentially becoming the first team to secure the world title four times in a row.

Denmark will now face either Portugal or Germany in Fridays semifinal.
