The Danish national team coach Nikolaj Jacobsen took it upon himself to act as a bouncer when security personel inside the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning failed to deal with a person who invaded the court during the game between Denmark and the Czech Republic Saturday evening.

Shortly into the second half, a spectator ran onto the pitch, shot confetti across the floor and was subsequently pushed away by Nikolaj Jacobsen just twenty seconds later.

Not until after the incident had occured did security guards manage to get hold of the court invader and that is not good enough, says  chairman of the Danish Handball Federation, Jan Kampmann.

"First of all, it is an unpleasant situation that we are not used to in handball. We've staged seven final tournaments where there's been no sign of this. We had security in the aisles, but the person came directly from the stands", says Jan Kampmann to DR Sporten.

"It took a little too long before we reacted. Fortunately, we had a Danish national coach who stopped him quickly. He brought confetti and that is difficult to catch during a search but it is unpleasant and should not happen."

The person who ran onto the pitch was arrested by the police and charged with trespassing.

The man who acted as bouncer, national coach Nikolaj Jacobsen, also thinks that it took a long time before someone took action.

"I looked after security but nobody came and then I decided that he had probably already gotten the attention he needed. We had to get on with what we came here for, to play handball", said Nikolaj Jacobsen.

Denmark won the game against the Czech Republic 28-22
