On Thursday evening evening, Odense won at home 33-31 over Team Esbjerg and thus won the final series 2-1 in matches after being virtually humilated in the first match.
The two top teams enjoyed each their momentum during the match and only in the very last seconds did Odense manage to pull away and secure the gold.
Danish national team player Mie Hojlund in particular had a terrific game for Odense. Tirelessly she attacked again and again and made life miserable for Esbjerg.
Thanks to the triumph, Odense dethroned Team Esbjerg who have won the title the last two years.
It was, however, the visitors from Esbjerg who enjoyed a bright opening to the match as Anna Kristensen and Henny Reistad showed their strength in each end of the court to give Esbjerg a 4-1 lead.
In the first match Odense was completely blown away by Esbjerg's fierce start, but on Thursday evening, Ole Erevik's side never lost their cool.
They gradually worked their way back into the match, and as always it was Mie Hojlund and Helena Elver who were at the forefront of things. After 14 minutes, Odense had levelled the score at 9-9.
The momentum constantly changed between the two teams in an intense encounter. Thanks to Mie Hojlund's always challenging playing style, Odense were rewarded a lot free throws which Ragnhild Valle Dahl duly converted.
However, Esbjerg got things under control again at the end of the half and went into the break ahead 19-18.
After the interval Odense recovered their stylish stride as Esbjerg began to struggle in attack against a well-organized and energetic Odense defense.
This meant that Odense had a three-goal lead with ten minutes remaining only for Reistad to pull the game back on level terms again.
But Odense claimed the upper hand again, and a mistake from Esbjerg in their final attack meant that Odense could claim the title.
