The most winning team in the history of the Danish men's handball league, KIF Kolding, have been relegated from the domestic handball league for the first time in 41 years.

Denmark's most winning men's handball club, KIF Kolding, will no longer be part of Herreligaen when the next season starts after the summer break.

In the last game of the regular season on Saturday, Kolding, who has won the Danish title no less than 14 times, was relegated after securing only two wins in the domestic league season.

To avoid relegation, Kolding were forced to win away against Sonderjyske, while Grindsted had to lose its game against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg (BSH), and Grindsted pu the final nail in the Kolding coffin by winning 33-30.

Grindsted escaped direct relegation, but still has the risk of going down in the relegation playoffs where also Ribe-Esbjerg, Nordsjaelland, Sonderjyske and TMS Ringsted take part.
