Norwegian international Alexander Blonz from GOG has signed a three-year deal with Aalborg Handball and will start his new career in Aalborg at the end of this season.

24-year-old Alexander Blonz began his professional career at Viking HK and then Elverum Handball in his home country of Norway, before moving to the Hungarian major club OTP Bank Pick Széged in 2021.

In 2023, Blonz moved to GOG in the Danish domestic league, and from the upcoming season, the Norwegian is set to cover the left wing in Aalborg.

"Alexander is a player we have followed even before he came to GOG, but we had the opportunity to make an agreement with him from the upcoming season, which we are extremely satisfied with", says Aalborg Handball's director Jan Larsen.

Blonz is currently unfit to play due to a knee injury and a subsequent blood clot which he sustained in December, which means that he missed the World Cup for Norway, just as the winger will not play again for GOG this season.

"Of course, it is incredibly unfortunate for Alexander, but we are confident and believe that he will recover well and will be fit to play for us during the autumn. We will do everything to support him when he comes to the club and for us the most important thing is that Alexander is completely healthy before he is thrown into action for us, so we will take the time it takes", says Jan Larsen further.

Blonz himself is looking forward to his new challenge:

"Aalborg is a step up in my career, I feel. For me, the club is one of the best teams in the world and always fights to win all titles, and I really want to be a part of that.

The Norwegian winger has so far played 94 international matches and scored 254 goals for Norway. In the 2023/24 season, Blonz scored 112 goals in 32 matches for GOG in the Men's League, and before the injury this season he had scored 55 goals in 14 matches.
