Aalborg have signed the Norwegian defensive profile Vetle Ronningen from Skjern to replace Henrik Molgaard after the former Danish international brings down the curtain on his career.

Aalborg have confirmed in a press release that they have signed Vetle Ronningen from Skjern to replace club legend Henrik Mollgaard who will stop his career after this season.

"Vetle is a really skilled defender who, with great physique, strength and mobility, will be an important part of our defense in the coming seasons", says Aalborg director Jan Larsen in a press release.

"We therefore see him as an ideal addition to next season's squad, where he fills the gap left by Henrik Mollgaard."

The 26-year-old Norwegian, who towers more than two meters into the air, turned into a profile in Herreligaen when he joined KIF Kolding from German outfit Bietigheim.

Last summer he moved to Skjern, where he will have spent only one season before moving 170 kilometers to the northeast.

Ronningen himself says that the decision was easy when Aalborg approached him.

"Aalborg is one of Europe's top clubs, so it was not a difficult choice for me when the opportunity presented itself", says Ronningen.

"I hope to be able to contribute with good defensive play, so that together we can secure even more titles for the club."

He has been capped nine times for Norway.

Skjern announce that they have signed a contract with Jonathan Würtz as a replacement for Ronningen. He has been brought in from Ribe-Esbjerg, but has previously played in Skjern.
