Lukas Jorgensen was stretchered off after sustaining the injury late in Denmark's second group match at the European Championships against Romania, and scans today revealed that the injury is possibly even worse than expected, as the Flensburg-Handewitt player has sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The strong line player has torn his anterior cruciate ligament. He is therefore awaiting surgery and a long rehabilitation period.
The main character is also devastated by Monday's terrible news. "It's a bit unreal right now, and maybe I haven't fully realized it. I'm going through a tough time, and it will only slowly sink in. Fortunately, there are no other injuries to the knee," says Lukas Jorgensen, in a press release from the Danish Handball Federation before adding:
"Thank you so much for the love I've received from my teammates. From everyone in the Boxen Arena. And all of you who have reached out."
