In a post on Instagram, the 32-year-old defender writes that she and her husband, Andreas Vinter Burgaard, are expecting their first child in January.
"We are looking forward and are very curious about what awaits us", she says and adds that it has been difficult to keep it a secret for more than 14 weeks.
This means that the 32-year-old full-back, who helped Odense win the Danish title in June, will miss a large part of the upcoming season while the Danish national team will also have to do without her for the World Championships in November and December.
"I will support the girls in Odense Håndbold as much as I can, off the field in the first part of the season, and then I hope that I can be ready to join them in the last part of the season in the pursuit of more titles", writes Louise Burgaard.
Burgaard further writes that she "still has big ambitions both with the club and the national team and has plenty of motivation and courage to come back strong".
