GOG have signed the Swiss playmaker, Manuel Zehnder, from German Champions League winners, Magdeburg

The 26-year-old star player has established his name in international handball on several occasions, both on the Swiss national team, but certainly also in the German Bundesliga, where he became leading goal scorer during the 2023-2024 season with a whopping 277 goals, an average of 8.1 over the season in what is considered the world's toughest league.

"We are proud that Manuel Zehnder has chosen GOG and consider it a bit of a scoop. Everyone who has followed handball in recent seasons has followed Zehnder's impressive performances in at first ThSV Eisenach and - until his injury - SC Magdeburg."

"In terms of attack, we get a player from the top shelf who fits perfectly into the way we play handball in GOG. He is enormously explosive in his style of play and has a really great hunger in relation to developing himself and his surroundings", says Sports manager, Mikkel Voigt in a press release.

Manuel Zehnder has been in negotiations with GOG for a long period of time, and the 190 cm tall defender has followed the club and the playing style closely along the way. After a long injury period, he returned to represent SC Magdeburg for the remainder of the past season, where the club won the Champions League. Zehnder is very content to join GOG from next season and says:

"I'm really looking forward to starting in GOG next season. It's a fantastic club with big ambitions. I also have big ambitions, so in that way, we match really well. I'm looking forward to contributing to the team's success, and together we can hopefully achieve great results."

"I can hardly wait to give everything I can for the club and its fans.”
