The Rhein-Neckar Löwen star, who will leave the German Bundesliga this summer to launch a new career at Aalborg Handball where he has signed a three-year contract, says that Mathias Gidsel has the ability to turn matches in the favor of his side all on his own.
"I don't know how Mathias Gidsel does it, how he manages to carry Berlin alone sometimes. Every third day, whether it's the Champions League or the Bundesliga. He is a machine", says Juri Knorr to the German media.
Knorr is by far the biggest German profile in the domestic league but he admits that he is not sure if he will ever be able to measure up to Gidsel.
"I can't explain how he is always there, with such energy. Maybe I have to accept that I will never get there."
"That's why I sometimes wonder if I'm the player who can perform so consistently, but of course it's a team sport, there's a dynamic, you're part of the big picture", says Juri Knorr.
Knorr will come face to face with Gidsel when Rhein-Neckar Löwen face Füchse Berlin in the last game of the season on 18 June.
