Fuchse Berlin's German Bundesliga Championship trophy has been stolen

The German Championship trophy which Füchse Berlin won last season has been stolen by unknown perpetrators.

The Handball Bundesliga championship trophy was stolen from the Fuchse Berlin office. Office manager Volker Zerbe confirmed to the German Press Agency that the trophy won at the beginning of June had been stolen. 

The theft was reported to the German Police from the office on Gendarmenmarkt on Tuesday. The Police have now launched an investigation.

"We assume that Fuchse Berlin are still in possession of the original bowl. We have been informed by Fuchse about the theft. We hope that the bowl will be secured and returned to the German champions", says Head of Communications for the Handball Bundesliga: 

The master bowl is made of 925 sterling silver and has a diameter of 46 centimeters. It weighs around 2.9 kilograms. According to the manufacturer's estimate, the value is €12,000

Füchse director Bob Hanning told German media BILD: "We have footage of the crime because we have hidden a camera in the room. We hope that everything will be cleared up quickly."
